There hasn’t been much talk on Ridley Scott’s upcoming film Prometheus for at least a couple of weeks, and suddenly it all floods in at once. First the guys over at STYD have revealed that Charlize Theron (pictured right) has signed on to star in the film. She will star alongside Noomi Repace and Michael Fassbender in an ever growing cast.
I’m not sure if casting Theron is a good idea or not, but maybe she will fit in nicely, what do you guys think?
The recently cast Michael Fassbender spoke to the guys over at MTV for an exclusive interview where they asked him if Prometheus is connected to Alien?
“Oh, absolutely. There’s a definite connecting vein,” Fassbender told MTV News when asked pointblank whether or not “Prometheus” and “Alien” are connected. “You realize you’re part of something else, but it’s definitely in keeping with the old ones.”
Although it explores other areas of that universe, it appears that “Prometheus” and “Alien” exist in the same space. For Fassbender, that connection was initially a bit overwhelming: “When I read it, I was like, ‘Well, okay, another Alien. Where do you go with this idea?’ And then I sort of read the script, and it’s new, yet it’s in keeping with the old traditions as well. But there’s a whole new revelation within this film.”
Check out the video interview below to hear what else he had to say:
Plot outline according to Ridley Scott; “While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn’t be more pleased to have found the singular tale I’d been searching for, and finally return to this genre that’s so close to my heart.”
Prometheus is set for a June 8, 2012 release
