Howdys Hot Seat: MistressOfHorrorOnce again we delve into the darkest recesses of one of our members’ minds. This weekly feature editorial is where we interview a member of our community and find out what makes them tick. Where some sites interview celebrities we interview the people that make them famous in the first place. You the horror fans.

Today’s lucky victim is the temptress of terror, the doyenne of the dark, the always delightful MistressOfHorror

Let’s start with an easy one. What are your 3 favourite horror films and more importantly why are they your favourites?

Hmmmm that is truly a HARD one. I do love so many horror movies. So I will chose from 3 genres instead.

  1. Slasher-Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I remember watching this for the first time. The sheer horror of Leatherface and what went on in that farmhouse completely blew my mind . The opening narration haunted me throughout the whole movie.
  2. Creature Feature- American Werewolf in London. It is the perfect combination of horror and comedy. The howl the wolf made gives me the chills to this very day . The banter between David and Jack is hilarious. The special effects are some of the best Ive ever seen
  3. Haunting- The Entity. Despite being dated and mild compared to some of the shocking films released since then, I still find it geniunely terrifying. To be attacked ,violated and unable to prevent it or know when it will happen next. >shudders<

What would you say is the biggest draw of horror? Why do you like horror films?

Its the scare. I’m addicted to the rush of fear. To be afraid of what the next scene holds, experiencing the terror the characters are feelings ,to walk away taking that fear with you…Sadly , After watching so many horror films, it becomes harder to envoke that feeling of fear. So any film that frightens me becomes an instant favorite.

What don’t you like about the horror genre? Don’t say nothing, there’s always something that bugs even the most rabid fan.

lack of originality. I really wish more films would be based on some really great horror novels or short stories out there. Also, there many great indie directors out there that deserve a chance. There are far too many poorly done remakes and straight to DVD films. They really need to give some fresh talent and new ideas a chance

What keeps you sticking around this wonderfully insane website? Is it the people? The articles? The free beer and Cheetos that are always promised for tomorrow?

Its the free use of the torture chamber :)~
Not only are there great horror articles here, it really is the members that keep me coming back. It is a great place to come and discuss our love of horror.

Every film fan has a movie that they like but nobody else seems to have heard of. What’s yours? Why should we try and find it?

Malevolence. I dont hear much about this movie but its actually a pretty good slasher flick. At first I didnt really like it and didnt give it a chance. I fast forwarded through most of it. but after my second viewing I really appreciate it

I know we’re being inundated with remakes and we all have some complaints about them but if you could remake any horror movie what would it be? Who would you cast in it, direct it ,etc ? Come on let us hear about your dream remake, you’d be in complete control. Would it be a shot for shot or a reboot?

Call me crazy ( you wouldn’t be the first ) but I gotta go with : Maximum Overdrive. Hell yeah ! I love a good evil car movie and this one has tons of them ! But I feel the effects are dated and hokey. We need a new one with some better effects !! Cast a variety of different actors , but throw Michelle Rodriguez in there for sure ! she is great at roles where she’s in the drivers seat

While we’re on the subject of remakes, which horror film do you think needs to be remade just because they got it wrong the first time? Why? Where did they go wrong?

Well I heard that its already happening, but I would chose the movie The Funhouse . It could have been way spookier with the funhouse as a backdrop and the special effects were not that great.

Lets get to the good stuff. Your dark side. What’s your guilty secret horror movie? The one you know you shouldn’t like but just can’t help watching over and over again.

My guilty pleasure is The Lost Boys. Its total 80’s popcorn vampire, but I LOVE it !!

What’s the worst horror film you’ve ever seen? You can take this one how you will. Worst as in most horrific or worst as in just downright terrible.

A Serbian Film. I dont think it should even be classified as horror. It was just made for shock.

And finally, before I unlock the shackles and turn off the mind probe, one last question. Who do you want to see in the hot seat next? You pick the next victim, errm interviewee.

Hmmmm next victim , eh ? TwistedSista or Hellrat muahahahahaha

Thanks for taking the time to take part in this feature, it’s the members of this site that make it so great. We couldn’t do this without you. Have some Fava Beans and a nice Chianti.

Excelent job Mistress! I love the choice of The Entity, amazing how well it still holds up today. The finger impressions in her flesh when there were no hands there to make them, just creepy!!
