Teaser Trailer for The Woman in Black

Chris Savage

The teaser trailer for Hammer Films’ The Woman in Black has finally been released and the guys over at IGN UK have the exclusive trailer and of course, you guys can check out that one below.

As most of you are probably aware, The Woman in Black is based on the novel of the same name by Susan Hill and the stage play which I’m told is pretty damn awesome. Also The Woman in Black was turned into a TV movie in the UK, so it will be interesting to see how James Watkins delivers this one.

Also some interesting release details have been altered, The Woman in Black was set for a October 28, 2011 date but has unfortunately been moved to a February 10, 2012 date. Quite the jump, but good things come to those who wait.

There is still no word on a U.S. release date, but I’m sure it will be announced shortly.

The Woman in Black is directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake) and penned by Jane Goldman. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe, Ciaran Hinds, Janet McTeer, Liz White, Alisa Khazanova, Tim McMullan, Roger Allam, Daniel Cerqueira, Shaun Dooley, Mary Stockley, Cathy Sara, David Burke, Victor McGuire, and Lucy May Barker.

Synopsis: “The story follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works alone in the client’s isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. Receiving only silence from the locals, Kipps is forced to uncover the true identity of the Woman in Black on his own, leading to a desperate race against time when he discovers her true intent.”

        Cool trailer. 😀

I remember watching the UK TV movie (I’m also looking for the original novel, and would love to see the stage play), and being seriously creeped out during it. I’m talking looking over my shoulder at the strange shadows creeped out. LOL LOVED it!

When I heard that Hammer Films was coming back, I was ecstatic… then I heard they were doing “The Woman in Black”, and I was like, “YES!” I’m looking forward to seeing how Hammer handles this story. I’m also interested to see how Radcliffe does in this role as well, as ghost stories are some of the hardest ones to do decently within the horror genre due to pacing.

Looking forward to a Canadian release on this one… or at the very least, the DVD release. LOL
