I was 11 years old when I was made aware of a new movie my older friends had seen. They loved it and couldn't stop talking about it. It sounded horrifying and very good. Finally I watched it nearly 30 years later. Despite a PG rating and years of my imagination just building it up, I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied. It was good. If I had seen its theatrical run at 11, I may have been disturbed and Thrilled. This movie has been on my mind here and there throughout most my life. Why? I suppose it was a twist on how the patient in paralysis, coma or grave injury touches all those around him and shows us how love can even touch those in a coma or whatever. Not Patrick. He's the bad guy and has powers not for healing, just destruction and hate/rage. The trailer shows some interesting takes on the classic?

Great comment and valid point made. Brazil is VERY VERY Dangerous and I think we can both agree its a social issue and not a 'horror movie' issue.

Well said Shawn you just hit on the key reason that I think Lords of Salem failed to find an audience and it has NOTHING to do with Rob Zombie.

THE LORDS OF SALEM wasn't playing in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto....If I wanted to see it I would of had to drive to Syracuse which is about 2.5 hours. It had no advertisement and was playing in limited theatres! Ridiculous

Very good article. Nice to see politics here. I am no expert in violence either, but I live in Brasil, so I know a thing or two about it in real life. More than 5.000 people were killed, murdered last year, and that's just in the city I live, São Paulo. I am not shiting you, that number is real. And I can tell that the US social crisis is for sure the cause of the increased violence. In my country violence is mainly a social issue, so I know what I am saying. Social crisis means lack of education and jobs, and that increases violence. What you are seing there is only the tip of the iceberg. People dont kill each other in Canada. They play the same games and see the same movies, and listen to the same music. The difference is that everyone have acces to a decent life.
