Terminator 5 to Reboot the Franchise?

Chris Savage

Megan Ellison’s Annapuma Pictures recently purchased the rights to the Terminator franchise at roughly $29.5 million which was also slated to have Arnold Schwarzenegger attached to star and Justin Lin to direct.

But with Schwarzenegger publicly admitting his affair with his housekeeper which resulted in a love child, he has decided to put all his film projects on indefinite hold, but perhaps soon the scandal will have blown over and Schwarzenegger will be ready to earn a paycheck.

So, the guys over at What’s Playing have heard some rumblings over at the Terminator camp, but, take these as more rumours for now.

Apparently the fifth Terminator film will not actually be a sequel after all, instead it could be a reboot of the franchise. Remember when it is mentioned that the original cast would return? Well, it may not be the original cast members but the original characters.

It is mentioned that Schwarzenegger would have a much bigger role than previously thought, he is said to return as the relentless cyborg who pursues Sarah Conner and the time travelling protector, Kyle Reese. With the exception of Schwarzenegger the characters are said to be re-cast as younger versions will the rumour of Paul Walker playing the role of Kyle Reese.

When they say a younger cast, Paul Walker is, I believe, 37, which makes him much older than when Michael Biehn played the character back in the original. Saying that, Walker and Justin Lin have worked together before on the Fast and Furious films so there could be the possibility there.

For now, file this in that huge Terminator rumour folder and wait patiently to see how the fifth Terminator film pans out, if it ever gets off the ground.

Why did he have to go and F**K up like that. Anyway, I love the Terminator movies so much, I don’t mind a remake.

i think a reboot would be smarter, they can still connect salvation to the reboot and its gonna be really sad and ridiculous seeing a 64 year old Arnold chasing Sarah Conner as if Robots age or something.
