Escape From New York Remake Update

Chris Savage

For those of you that hated the thought of John Carpenter’s 1981 film, Escape From New York being remade can have a sigh of relief. According to the guys over at Deadline, New Line and Warner Bros. have dropped Escape From New York so the remake is up for grabs.

So a relief for a while, until another studio rolls with it. The remake at one time had Breck Eisner lined to direct the reboot from a script penned by Allan Leob and Jamie Ross.

There had been casting rumours in the past for such actors as Gerard Butler and Jeremy Renner but these never came to light. Most recently was talk of Tom Hardy being attached but who knows what the future holds for the reboot now.

Good news for the time being, but somehow I have a feeling that it will happen one day, probably sooner rather than later.
