Spike Lee Directing Oldboy Remake?

Chris Savage

There has been talks to remake Park Chan-Wook’s 2003 revenge flick Oldboy, for quite some time now, but perhaps they have finally found a director to tackle this project?

I see no need for a remake, yet again but there is nothing we can do about it, anyway according to the guys over at Twitch, they have learned that Spike Lee is in talks to direct the remake.

At one time Spielberg was eyeing up the project, but that never came to be, also Will Smith was interested, but there is no word if Smith would still be involved.

The remake is set to be produced by Mandate with Doug Davison and Roy Lee, Mark Protosevich is said to be penning the script. Stay tuned to see how this one evolves.

:( Worst news I could imagine hearing on my birthday. :(

Lemme guess, it’ll be a Spike Lee “Joint”, starring some random rappers, and it’ll take place in Brooklyn and it’ll be some brutha getting revenge against some gang of east coast thugs being helmed by the token white guy played by Danny Aiello? awesome, thanks, great…
