Over the past months we have had rumours and even more rumours regarding Ghostbusters 3, unfortunately I got tired of waiting and I’m getting to the point of not caring. However, Dan Aykroyd recently spoke to the Dennis Miller Radio Show and spoke about the third film and moving ahead, with or without Mill Murray.
Thanks to AITH for the transcriptions;
“Yes, we will be doing the movie, and hopefully with Mr. Murray. That is our hope. We have an excellent script, but what we have to remember is that Ghostbusters is bigger than any one component. Although Billy was the lead and contributed to it in a massive way, along with myself, Harold (Ramis) and the director and Sigourney (Weaver), the concept is bigger than any one individual role.”
So, will there still be the mixture of the old cast with a new cast?
“The promise of Ghostbusters 3 is that we get to hand the equipment and the franchise down to new blood. My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can’t drive the Cadillac. He’s got a bad knee and can’t carry the packs. Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that’s the promise. We’re gonna hand it to a new generation. We want to go into production in the spring, I hope.”
Who might this young blood be?
“I like this Matthew Gray Gubler from the Criminal Minds show, but we’ll be casting,” said Aykroyd. “We’ll see everyone who wants to do it. It will be three guys and a young woman.”
So there you have it, some actually chatter which actually reveals something and hopefully this sucker gets going as my patience is wearing thin.
