Rooney Mara To Star In Oldboy Remake?

Chris Savage

Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of Oldboy recently cast up, Josh Brolin as the male lead and there has been some chatter that Christian Bale could play the main villain in the film, one role I would love to see him play.

However, Twitch has received word that Rooney Mara (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) has been targeted to play the female lead. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet but Twitch appear to be extremely confident in their source.

Mara would be an excellent choice if this did actually go through and even though I’m disappointed about Spike Lee directing, if all the rumours are true about the cast, this could be a great film. If we look at this as a standalone film and not a remake.

I have mixed feelings about her.¬†I thought she was awful in Nightmare On Elm Street remake, but what I’ve seen of her in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo remake she looks awesome.

Edward Norton as Oh Dae Sue, Christian Bale as Woo Jiin, Dakota Fanning as Mido, Steve Buschemi as the guy with the “prison” apartments, Jet Li as Bale’s bodyguard and Daren Aronofsky as a director would be something definitely worth to watch. Now i don’t think it has any possibilities to even touch the magnitude of the original, even though Mara is a good choice…
