Tom Cruise Enters All You Need Is Kill

With adaptations becoming almost as popular as remakes in Hollywood, we have yet another adaptation to add to that list and Warner Bros will be the guys to bring it to us.

According to Variety, All You Need Is Kill which is based upon the Japanese graphic novel of the same name looks as if it will be fast-tracked as Tom Cruise has agreed to star in the sci-fi alien flick.

While the original script called for a younger actor, it has already been rewritten to “make the character fit Cruise’s age.”

Dante Harper originally wrote the script and Joby Harold has penned the rewrites. Doug Liman is said to still be involved to direct the project with filming possibly starting in the third/early fourth quarter of 2012.

The original story of the novel “is in the vein of “Groundhog Day,” with a twist: A soldier in a war against aliens finds himself reliving his last day over and over after being killed. Through the training and battles he experiences in these time loops, he becomes a better soldier.”

Well, that’s a disaster. The hero of ALL YOU NEED IS KILL (a normal novel, not a graphic novel, btw) is an 18 year old Japanese soldier. Tom Cruise is almost 50 and American. Something is very wrong here.
