You Voted: Best Horror Movies of 2011

#4) Stake Land

: I am pleased to see that you all voted Stake Land into the top 10 as I think its one of the best horror films of the last decade. Danielle Harris turns in one of her strongest performances to date in a movie that I can best call a mix of George Romero’s social commentary with Walking Dead’s flow and brutality. Stake Land is a very slow movie but it effectively washes the taint of TWILIGHT off the Vampire genre. For me its  a must buy!

#3) Insidious

I am a huge fan of James Wan and think he is a genius despite some missteps in some of his films. For me Insidious was an ok film that payed hommage to the classic ghost stories of the 80’s. Clearly alot of you loved this film as you voted it to number three on our top horror films of 2011.

#2) I Saw The Devil

I Saw The Devil is easily one of the best foreign horror films ever made. How is that for a ballsy statement? I could not agree with where it lands on this list more if I tried. I Saw The Devil is the story of a sadistic serial killer who in his latest victim manages to summon an evil even worse than him when the womans Fiancee hell-bent on revenge goes seeking vengeance. This film is so much more than a gore fest with a powerful story, a cat and mouse twist and the powerful message of would you let the devil in to settle a score?

Can you guess what the number one film was? It was a real roller coaster as I Saw The Devil and the top horror film of 2011 kept trading places almost on a daily basis. Now with the voting over read the next page to find out which film was #1.

I cant believe that the piece of crap that was the The Thing (prequel) made into the top 10 but Hobo didn’t.

Loooved Tucker and Dale! I watched it the other night as it was free in BT and I must say I Enjoyed it more than I’ve managed to enjoy a horror comedy in a long time. They did everything right especially the casting of Tucker and Dale and I think  I will definately be adding this to my collection.
