Found Footage Film Upper – Fact or Fiction? You Be the Judge

Written by: Deth_Banger

Here we have a found footage film entitled Upper which has been making its way around the Internet for sometime. Its a little grey in areas so let me try and get you guys up to speed. Apparently, a YouTube video surfaced which depicted a girl overdosing with her friends (well, acquaintances) standing around laughing at her.

So, an extortion plot was put into motion surrounding the footage, however a deal wasn’t reach and piece by piece footage made its way onto the Internet. Apparently there is around 393 minutes of recorded evidence.

This is where it gets a more bizarre. Quentin Tarantino acquired all the footage and intended on releasing the film as Upper. According to B-D one of the teens has been identified as Blake Pennington (a famous blogger?).

After a lot of backlash regarding the footage and what-not, Tarantino got cold feet and backed off the project. So, this brings us to today, where the footage, now entitled Upper is being released for a one-time screening at this years Sundance Film Festival. So I ask you, my horror comrades. Is this a genius marketing scheme or is this in fact real found footage?

I’m going with a viral marketing campaign, but who am I to judge.

Below you will find a seven minute video depicting the events and given you a better understanding of what happened.

A Facebook page has surfaced entitled Release The Upper Footage, check it out for even more information on this bizarre story.
