Guillermo del Toro Will Direct Beauty & the Beast

This seems like the perfect match and already I am having visions as to what del Toro will bring to the screen with his take on Beauty & the Beast. Here’s hoping it still has his trademark style.

According to Variety, Guillermo del Toro will direct Beast, a new take on the Beauty & the Beast tale which has Andrew Davis attached to pen the script.

Originally del Toro was on board to simply produce, but thankfully he is now helming the project. Emma Watson (Harry Potter) is currently in final negotiations to to topline the flick.

“DiNovi Pictures’ Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan will produce with del Toro, who plans to write a treatment from which Davies will work.”

    Here’s hoping he passes on this over-told boring story… how about a new and original movie? Movies now take a long time from pre-production to release. Directors working in today’s business can’t log the amount of movies in their career that they used to… does he really want to waste years of his life to a story that’s been done a hundred times already? Move on man, find a story that hasn’t been told and blow our minds…
