The Amityville Haunting Review

Written by: RGriffin

The Amityville Haunting was a direct to video release, making the total of  ten Amityville franchise films. In this newest release we’re introduced to a new family that have bought the house despite knowing it’s past. This film was supposed to put a new twist to the story and add modern aspects to the story.

The problem is found footage films are nothing new and are only enjoyable when done right. Whilst watching the film, made by Asylum, you get the feeling they didn’t really have much faith in the project. With bad acting and an overdone original storyline it becomes very boring, very quickly. With a mixture of security camera and hand held camera recordings it becomes very hard to watch, constantly switching from one to the other.

The best way to describe this release is a paranormal activity film inside the Amityville house. With ghosts and shadows shown in the background, things moving with no-one touching them and a family on the edge, like I said nothing original at all.

For Amityville enthusiasts you’ll notice that the quarter round windows are NEVER shown throughout the film, a signature of the infamous house. BIG mistake there.
