The Walking Dead S2: Episode 9 ‘Triggerfinger’ Review
Written by: Lola Savage
I will not be summarizing the episode for you but if you didn’t watch Episode Nine of Walking Dead Season 2 it then I suggest you do before reading this review. I really enjoy television shows but especially The Walking Dead because it combines television with horror and with a great story to pull from it has endless potential for old and new adventures.
So we’ve finally gotten to the juicy stuff. Rick’s put in his usual moral dilemma scenario and once again has to save someone. But he’s gotten a lot rougher around the edges since he woke up from that comma. First he takes out two living men, and then he pulverizes another guy’s leg, in order to save him of course. Meanwhile Lori’s kicking her own kind of ass by way of hungry zombies. Honestly my favorite part of the episode, when the walker’s trying so hard to get her it peels back its own skin. Not that I thought she was a flower or anything, but we haven’t seen her in action in a while.
I love how the producers really like to use abrupt zombie hoards as a way to incite sudden excitement and tension. Now I realize gun shots are going to attract walkers but they always seem to show up all at once, and in one single swoop. It works, for me at least, but I wish there was more of a steady wave rather than going from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds. Or is that how it’s really like? Does anyone know? Regardless, the more zombies the better and they’ve been keeping them back for some time so it’s overdue. But because they’ve been so sparse, it’s given me a chance to get really scared of Shane and his craziness. He is steadily becoming the ideal stalker/killer from a Lifetime movie. And if that’s not scary for you, it is for me. “He loves her so much, he’d kill!” So with the newest implications of Rick becoming the sword that takes Shane down, I’m highly anxious to see that outcome and knowing what they’ve shown us in the past, it definitely won’t be that simple. But Rick has Hershel, Dale, and Lori on his side so maybe they can tame the beast.
My hopes for the rest of the season is that Glenn accepts Maggie’s love, that kid they found will actually come in handy, anything at all to do with Shane, and Hershel’s daughter snaps out of it (because it won’t keep me interested much longer). But the best part of a good show is the things you least see coming. What are some of your predictions/hopes for Season 2?
