Big Names Circling The RoboCop Remake

Chris Savage

With the recent news that Joel Kinnaman will be top-lining Jose Padilha’s remake of RoboCop for MGM, the question now is, who will be joining him? While nothing has been confirmed and deals haven’t been finalized, B-D has received word of a slew of big names in line for different roles in the remake.

According to the site,Edward Norton (Fight Club, The Bourne Legacy), Sean Penn (Mystic River, Milk), Rebecca Hall (The Town) and Gael Garcia Bernal (Y Tu Mama Tambien) are being considered for roles. Norton, if cast, would actually be playing “Norton” – a key scientist behind the RoboCop program. Bernal would be playing Murphy’s former partner who begins hooking up with Hall (Murphy’s “widow”) after they both think he’s dead. Ouch! Penn is being considered for the role of “Novack”, a highly political right wing reporter.”

Again, nothing has been officially confirmed but it is definitely some food for thought, and it appears as if they are actually taking the remake seriously.

RoboCop is scheduled for release on August 9, 2013, stay tuned for more updates on this story.
