The first set photos from the upcoming horror flick, I, Frankenstein appeared online this week. The film is being directed by Stuart Beattie from a screenplay written by Kevin Grevioux. It stars Aaron Eckhart and Bill Nighy. The story follows Frankenstein’s creature, named Adam, in present day as he gets caught up in an all out war between two immortal clans.
The photos that you see are of a cemetery that is supposedly going to be the site of a few stunt sequences for the film. Not much else is known at this point other than the fact that Eckhart will be playing the protagonist and Bill Nighy will be playing a nasty villain.
The film has been shooting in Australia for a few weeks now and has been set for release in North America on February 22, 2013. It is being co-produced by Hopscotch Features and Lakeshore Entertainment.
The film’s director, Stuart Beattie, is no stranger to horror films. He has 30 Days Of Night, which was pretty awesome. This will be Beattie’s first directorial effort.
Hopefully we will get more photos from the set in the coming weeks. I can’t wait to get a look at what the creature is going to look like. Maybe we might be lucky enough to get a teaser soon so we can see what this all looks like in motion. It has been a while since we have seen this classic monster on the big screen and I’m optimistic that they will get this done right.
I’m grateful to be getting a break from all the vampire flicks that are saturating the market. If this is a big hit then maybe it will open the doors for other classic monsters to make their way back to the big screen. One can hope.
