There has been recent speculation as to who will play the villain in Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of Oldboy, and each time all the names announced seem to get debunked, so could we have finally found our villain for the remake?
According to Variety, Sharlto Copley (District 9) has been offered the villain role in Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake for Mandate Pictures. Also rounding off the cast at this time is Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen.
If Copley does indeed sign on, he will play a “mysterious billionaire out to destroy the protag’s life, while Olsen will play a caseworker who helps Brolin’s character investigate the past.”
The Oldboy remake follows, “Brolin as a man who is kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years for unknown reasons. When inexplicably released, he sets out to find out who held him hostage and why.”
