There’s A Maniac At The Cannes Film Festival

Elijah Wood Maniac RemakeNo its not me, but it is a film that hasn’t gained as much hate as I initially thought it would. I’m talking about the remake of William Lustig’s Maniac from director Frank Khalfoun.

I must admit, I was on the hate wagon initially, but as soon as I seen the image of Elijah Wood (pictured right) as the serial killer, Frank, I suddenly jumped off that wagon and am now fully behind the remake, and I love the original.

Well, if you’ve been anxious to see the upcoming remake and you’re able to attend this years Cannes Film Festival, you will be able to see the flick, as according to Deadline, Maniac has been added as one of the midnight screenings at the upcoming festival.

In the original film, “Frank Zito (a career performance by co-writer/co-executive producer Joe Spinell of ROCKY and THE GODFATHER fame) is a deeply disturbed man, haunted by the traumas of unspeakable childhood abuse. And when these horrific memories begin to scream inside his mind, Frank prowls the seedy streets of New York City to stalk and slaughter innocent young women.”
