It appears as if the studio that gave us all the SAW franchise is now heading into the world of Television, and their first project? It just so happens to be a dark, intense and sexual version of Alice in Wonderland, just those words together has me hanging on for more. Read on for the early details.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate TV has won a fierce bidding war for the TV rights to Zenescope’s Wonderland graphic novels.

The graphic novels is “a modern retelling of Lewis Carroll’s 1865 novel Alice in Wonderland told from the point of view of Alice’s daughter. It’s based on the series of graphic novels — Return to Wonderland, Escape From Wonderland and Beyond Wonderland — created and written by Zenescope co-founders Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco andRaven Gregory.”

The search is currently underway for a writer to adapt the material, and the plan is to have an established actress play the title role of Alice in the live-action adaptation.

Brian Robbins (Smallville), through his first-look deal with Lionsgate TV, will serve as an executive producer on the project alongside Artist International’s Dave Brown and Zadoc Angell.
