‘Mockingbird Lane’ Will Feature Universal’s Classic Monsters

Chris Savage

Despite my negative feelings towards the upcoming Munsters reboot, Mockingbird Lane, its a little hard to not be excited when something awesome like Universal’s classic monsters will be making an appearance. Not only that, but many of the monsters will be created with good old fashioned prosthetic’s.

Sadly CGI will be making an appearance too, but I can’t complain really.

At this years Comic-Con, The Hollywood Reporter caught up with the showrunner Bryan Fuller, and he divulged a little information regarding Mockingbird Lane.

So first off lets get in the awesome news of some of Universal’s classic monsters making an appearance.

“Right now we’re doing stories with Phantom of the Operaand Creature From the Black Lagoon. I’m excited about what happens when Marilyn’s brother comes into the picture.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon will be like [1988’s] Splash, Too: When he’s wet he’s the Gillman. That’s one of the best makeup effects — prosthetics — that anybody has done, that monster costume. And when he’s dry, he’s a handsome guy.”

Fuller then went on to talk about the Munsters in Mockingbird Lane;

“The Munsters actually do what monsters do: they eat people and they have to live with the ramifications of being monstrous. It’s like grounding it in a reality because the half-hour was a sitcom, we saw the monsters: they were monsters on the outside and weren’t monsters on the inside. For us, they’re monsters outside and inside, and we get to double our story.”

        I’m nervous about this one since the original is so dear to me. I watched reruns of it when I was a kid. I know I won’t be able to help myself and I’ll have to check it out once it’s on. So we’ll see.

          Yeah, I totally agree. But I’m just too damn intrigued about the inclusion of some other Universal Monsters! But, nothing can top the original. :)
