Marianne Jean-Baptiste Lays Down the Law in RoboCop

Just when you thought there was no more room in the inn, along comes even more casting news for MGM and Sony’s remake of RoboCop.

According to the guys over at Variety, Marianne Jean-Baptiste (pictured right) has been attached to star in Jose Padilha’s upcoming remake as Detroit Police Chief, Karen Dean.

Jean-Baptiste joins the previously announced cast of Joel Kinnaman, Hugh Laurie, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Kenneth Williams, Jackie Earle Haley, Jay Baruchel, Abbie Cornish and Gary Oldman.

Look for the film in theatres on August 9, 2013.

        I loved the original Robocop and I’m pretty leery of remakes and reboots but this does have a pretty strong cast in it. Though, it being José Padilha’s first american feature, I’m still leaning towards leery.
