The Possession Takes #1 at the Box-Office

Whether you like it or not, its always great to see a genre film do well at the box-office. This is the case in regards to Lionsgate’s supernatural spook-fest The Possession, and over the Labor Day weekend, the film managed to secure the top spot.

According to Deadline, The Possession is set to take in an estimated $21.3M during the 4-day holiday. As always, it looks as if the PG-13 rating went in the films favor to secure its takings, but what did you guys think? Did the film deliver the goods?

The Possession is directed by Ole Bornedal and stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyra Sedgwick, Madison Davenport and Natasha Calis.

Synopsis: “The Possession is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of an unspeakable evil. Clyde (Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.
