I haven't seen the original Maniac so I can't compare... But this 2012 version was good. Kinda boring sometimes to me, but I really enjoyed how Elijah Wood managed to be so much invested in his role despite the few times we clearly see him. The killings are sometimes disgusting and that's really enjoyable from a POV ! Still 2,5 is a hard rating. But sure, if people always compare remakes to the originals, then it will never be over 3 out of 5.

It's too bad you talk about 2012 movies which were out by 2011, or even 2010 ! But still, the list is pretty decent. Except for Rosewood Lane...

I understand your point of view. But can't a horror movie be silly and trully respectable? I thought it was fun and the kills were well done ( silly that is, but still decent ). I think horror movies shouldn't all be taken too seriously, some fun never killed anyone.

I tend to agree with you, thank you for the comment. It is tricky to manage expectations going in (especially if they aren't positive) and try to view something with a clean slate. Mr. Roth wasn't abjectly terrible in his role but is absolutely not someone who vanishes into a character so that could be considered distracting and/or a negative. Again, thank you for the feedback.

second that, the cast and seemingly nutso setup look just fantastic.
