Ginger Snaps Helmer Looks to Unleash Clones in Orphan Black

I absolutely love Ginger Snaps. Not only was it one of the best werewolf movies of the past twenty years, I’d also go as far as saying its one of the best werewolf movies of all time. It was a wonderful surprise and one that I return to at least once a year.

So what’s next for the Ginger Snaps director, John Fawcett? Well, according to Fangoria, the director is set to helm an upcoming sci-fi thriller TV show entitled Orphan Black with BBC America and Temple Street Productions.

The TV series is said to follow “Sarah (Tatiana Maslany), a street-smart girl who witnesses a woman’s suicide and assumes her identity, cleaning out her bank account in the process. She then learns that both she and the dead woman are clones, sending her on the run.”

Orphan Black is also set to star Maria Doyle Kennedy, Dylan Bruce, Jordan Gavaris, Kevin Hanchard, Michael Mando, Elizabeth Saunders and Ron Lea.

According to the site, the series is set to premiere in early 2013 as part of “BBC America’s Supernatural Saturday block, and in Canada on the Space channel.”
