Rob Zombie Sticks Foot Firmly in Mouth

Goon 5 Comments

In the recent Rock! Shock! and Horror issue of Revolver Magazine they asked Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie to list worst and best horror movie lists. Well Rob Zombie clearly has no idea what he was getting into when he made this list. On his worst list he listed Gus Van Sant’s remake of Psycho.. The kicker is why he had it on the list.

I picked this not because it’s the worst film ever made, but because it’s the most pointless film ever made. To take a perfect movie made by a genius, and remake it – that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.

Sometimes I think Rob Zombie is just trolling everyone. How could he honestly say that after remaking Halloween? I don’t know what the hell he was thinking. For proof check out the image below courtesy of Dread Central.

While I will agree that it’s a little silly for him to say this after he remade Halloween unlike Van Sant’s remake of Psycho it was NOT a shot for shot remake and in that sense I very much agree with Mr. Zombie that it is the most pointless movie remake.

While most people will never think that Zombie’s remake of Halloween was better than the original, I believe that if it had been an original story (IE:Different names, places etc…) the movie would have been received with higher accolades. The same cannot be said for Mr. Sant’s ruination of the classic Psycho, which was a travesty in execution…and terrible idea altogether.

I totally agree if it had been an original story it would have been received better (at least at first). I do not think as many people would have flocked to it if it was a Rob Zombie original as they did for the remake of Halloween though which is why Hollywood is quick to “reimagine” the classics.

Rob Zombie remade Halloween, but at least he had some originality, Psycho remake was pretty much shot for shot, that’s why it was completely pointless.

He does say “I picked this not because it’s the worst film ever made, but because it’s the most pointless film ever made” which is true because the Psycho remake is pretty much a shot for shot copy but in colour, where as Rob’s Halloween remake changed pretty much everything other than the names and places. It had its flaws (like most films) but I actually really enjoyed his version of the story.
You said that Rob Zombie is trolling everyone, I think the problem might just be that you don’t like Rob Zombie.
