The Terminator will Rise Again – The Rights Have Been Sealed

Chris Savage

This has been one old slog for sure, I bet Megan Ellison thought twice about trying to secure the rights to The Terminator franchise as it appears to have been one uphill battle. But today the news has officially come in that Megan Ellison now indeed owns the rights to The Terminator franchise.

According to Deadline, it has been 18 months since Ellison parted with $20 million for the rights to The Terminator which resulted in a complicated deal which has been closed today. Ellison has enlisted her brother, David Ellison, to be her financial and creative partner.

During those 18 months, there has been no progress on a script or anything really, but will this finally mean that the wheels will start turning on a fifth Terminator film? I certainly hope so. What can I say? I’m a Terminator fan-boy, but what direction will they take it? Let me hear your thoughts below.

No studio is attached, but future Terminator films will be done as a co-production between her Annapurna Pictures and his Skydance Productions.
