The gorgeous and lovely Emma Stone is currently in negotiations to star in Guillermo del Toro‘s haunted house thriller Crimson Peak. Most of us are familiar with Emma as Wichita in Zombieland while the rest of the pretty world knows her as Gwen Stacy from The Amazing Spider-Man. Mr. del Toro is a household name by now, but for those of you who just may have been detached from the movie world for quite some time, his credentials as Director include such awesome films as Hellboy, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Pan’s Labyrinth, Blade II, The Devil’s Backbone, Mimic, and Cronos. Personally, Guillermo is one of my favorite directors alive today since he is one of the few who never disappoints me.
Although Guillermo del Toro is currently keeping the juicy details very quiet as he always does, we do know that the film is a set-oriented, classic with a modern rendition of a ghost story.
Guillermo has recently stated “It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules.”
Del Toro originally wrote the script with his regular partner Matthew Robbins, and more recently hired Lucinda Coxon who is known for The Crimson Petal and the White’s to assist with the film as he nudges it towards production.
Legendary Pictures, which most recently backed del Toro’s epic monsters Vs. giant robots clash Pacific Rim (out July 12), is financing yet another Guillermo del Toro movie.
Emma Stone will have a very busy 2013 playing rols in several films such as Gangster Squad, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and lending her voice as one of the main characters in DreamWorks’ The Croods. She has not yet signed a deal with Crimson Peak, but honestly, one would have to be a fool to turn down working with the legendary Guillermo del Toro.
