Well, I think its safe to say that we all knew it was coming, and we knew that the film would have to have stuff cut, I mean, the trailer looks freakin’ brutal! So what’s the stance on the rating?
Well, director of the upcoming remake Fede Alvarez, recently took to Twitter to reveal what the MPAA has granted the film.
“Was proud of scoring a NC17 when submitted! But we had to cut stuff out to get an R and get the film into theaters.”
So yes, the film has been cut, but that just means for an awesome home video release, bring on the director’s cut!
Checkout the bloody redband trailer below.

Duh..
Wonder if it’s going to be a few frames to be trimmed or if it’ll be more aggressive cutting.
Gonna be a great movie then!!
Yesm …
Sweet!!
I wish more film makers had the balls to release films NC-17.
I knew it would
Just saw the trailer and bricks were shat. That stuff looks sick as fuuuhhh! I was skeptical at first but now I’m dying to see it
No big deal. I thought ‘The Hunger Games’ should have been an ‘R’.
if it’s going to be nc-17 …then I’m totally seen it
That makes it fantastic!
A real Horror flick SHOULD be NC-17. Horror movies of late have sliced their story apart, just so more people would be able to go see it. What they have failed to understand though, is that you have cut out all of the GOOD stuff. NC-17 tells me that I am seeing a movie the way it was meant to be seen. Little kids shouldn’t be going to see a movie like this anyway.
Normally this would bother me, but this remake sort of looks like crap anyway. They’re trying so hard to be shocking, brutal and gory, that they’ve totally forgotten Evil Dead also had suspense, and atmosphere, and levity.
This remake is a shade of the original. Maybe cutting the film to an R rating will give it slightly less of a post-SAW tryhard torture porn feel.
Needs more Tree Rape
I fear that the style of humor that also took place at times in all of the films will be taken out of this remake. The rating at least gives me hope that this MAY be a little worth watching.
