Back in 2012 it was announced that Gaumont International Television and producer Martha De Laurentiis were teaming up with  Nicolas Refn (Drive) to deliver a Barbarella TV series, and that still appears to be very much the case. Today, however, we have received word as to who will pen the series.

According to Deadline, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who have co-wrote five James Bond films to date, including most recently Skyfall, have come onboard to the upcoming Barbarella TV series for Gaumont International Television.

Details regarding the series are still undisclosed, but The original Barbarella film followed Jane Fonda ”as the titular heroine who lands on the planet Lythion in the year 40,000.  Faced with robots, monsters and evil of varying stripes, she must vanquish her enemies, all while attempting—and failing—to keep her skin-tight spacesuit on.  Along the way she receives assistance from a variety of handsome men, each of whom receives her uninhibited appreciation.”
