Ryan Murphy and Jason Blum Head into The Town That Dreaded Sundown

Chris Savage

Not so long ago, we announced that MGM was looking to remake the 1976 flick The Town That Dreaded Sundown, and now more news has come in with both Ryan Murphy and Jason Blum being involved with the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Murphy and Jason Blum are teaming up for the remake of MGM’s cult-classic horror film The Town That Dreaded Sundown.

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon is currently in negotiations to direct the movie from a script penned by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

At this time MGM are looking to produce the film on a low-budget, hence Jason Blum’s inclusion in the remake considering his track record with the Paranormal Activity films.

Also, keeping in tone with the original film, the remake is said to be in the cinema verite style with horror-movie tones and elements of a procedural in the vein of David Fincher’s Zodiac.

Considering my dislike for remakes, I’m actually diggin’ the sound of this one. Let me know what you guys think below.
