Good Neighbors Set for the Remake Treatment

Chris Savage

Good NeighborYou know how it is these days. A film doesn’t even have to be old to be remade, in fact many are remade within a couple of years, much like this one we have for you today. While I haven’t seen seen the Canadian flick Good Neighbors, perhaps its time I did, as B-D has learned that the film is going to be remade.

The site reports that Stephan Rick will direct the remake, which is being titled as The Good Neighbor. Ross Partridge (Mutual Friends) has been attached to write the remake, which may see Sam Rockwell star, as early negotiations are underway.

The new version is said to follow “a journalist, David, who becomes close with his new neighbor, Robert. The night goes out of control when David accidentally kills a young woman. Robert is already willing to protect his new friend, and helps hides the evidence. Things get strange when Robert will stop at nothing to keep his new friend from being taken away.”

So what do you guys say? Does this warrant a remake?

Don’t want to be a pile of negativity but there is no damned reason to remake this film. The decided creepy factor of the relationship between the tenants, the lengths they go to etc won’t translate. The original has its flaws but remaking it is a lousy idea.
