How Many Will Die in the Walking Dead Finale?

Jason McDonald 5 Comments

If the title of the post didn’t clue you in, then I’ll warn you again. This post contains minor spoilers.  We’re not talking huge revelations or anything, but if you wish to remain totally pure than you might want to stop reading.

Andrew Lincoln, the guy who plays Rick Grimes on the Walking Dead, recently revealed to Rolling Stones magazine exactly how many people will die in the upcoming season finale.  He doesn’t name names, but if you’d rather not know how many people will die, then you should probably stop reading.

Just to add an extra bit of buffer so you don’t read the details on accident, here’s a synopsis for the season finale:

Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the group have to seriously consider if the prison is worth defending as the Governor’s (David Morrissey) impending attack looms over their heads. Written by Glen Mazzara; directed by Ernest Dickerson.

If you’ve come this far, then I assume you want to know! So here you go:

Twenty-seven people die. It’s safe to say it is all hands to pumps. It’s a crazy season finale.

Damn! That’s a whole mess of people.  I gotta assume that includes a lot of random people from Woodbury, but there will probably be a few well-known cast members among the dead by the time it’s all over.  Who do you think lives and dies? Sound off in the comments with your theories.

I think Beth,Carol and possibly Herschal from the prison group will die, the group has only 8 people, not counting the baby, at the moment so I think 3 would be an acceptable loss the rest will be from Woodbury

If they vaguely follow the comics the survivors will be pretty minimal. Rick, Carl, Glenn, Maggie, Andrea, Michonne, and only because he is the clear viewer favorite – Daryl. This would gear us up for next season, which puts the last of the survivors on the road to finding new survivors, establishing a new “sanctuary”, and meeting with new enemies/difficulties. Personally, I think thinning the herd and getting back to focus on the small core group for a season would be phenomenal. Especially, considering a “realistic” SHTF/EOLAWKI situation would most likely play out that way. A small “family”, foraging, keeping on the move, and fighting to keep each other alive among possible new enemies and allies, while still reacting to the immense amount of personal tragedy and the distrust that would inevitably cause as a result of this last season, would be a great way to play out next season.

I stopped watching season two after realizing each season they will be stopping at one place until zombies overrun the place, but I would also like to see them travel in a smaller group and be constantly moving like a family as you said. However, that sounds a lot more like how Zombieland is going to be if it gets made.

Andrew, if it follows the comic, then I agree. Of Course we have Daryl and the baby which I don;t see either getting killed off. I’m hoping Tyrese lives on for a bit, since we didn’t get to see much from him

Holy crap, 27 is a lot more than I would have thought. As long as Rick, Carl and Glenn stay alive I will be happy. I like Hershel but I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t make it. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Daryl went crazy and got himself killed since he found Merle as a walker and killed him. I doubt he would be killed off though, as above commenters have mentioned that he’s a fan favourite. I would imagine they would keep Michonne and Andrea around but I could be wrong. I haven’t read any of the comics so unless I read something online I never have any idea what will happen. I’m excited for the season finale though!
