Millennium Entertainment has acquired the US rights to distribute the horror comedy Hell Baby. At this point they plan on putting the movie on VOD this fall and then following it up with a theatrical release.
Hell Baby comes from the minds of Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon who are writing, directing, producing and starring in this new film about a couple who move into a haunted New Orleans home and call upon a team of Vatican exorcists to save them. The film stars Rob Corddry, Leslie Bibb, Keegan Michael Key, Riki Lindhome, Rob Huebel, Paul Scheer and Michael Ian Black
Most of you might remember Robert and Thomas from Reno 911 which, I thought, was a pretty damn good comedic series. The two have also written such films as Night at the Museum (pretty good) and The Pacifier (not so great). Given that they appear to be at their best when surrounded by other comedians, it would seem as if Hell Baby stood a pretty good chance of being a solid comedy. However, early reviews from Sundance, where the movie initially premiered, indicate that it’s average at best.
Maybe between now and when it’s released, they’ll revisit the film and try to work out some of the kinks.
