A few of you have already probably heard that Yana Toboso’s hit supernatural manga and anime series Kuroshitsuji or Black Butler will be getting its much-awaited live-action film adaptation by the mid of this year. With Hiro Mizushima (BECK, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e) taking on the iconic role of Sebastian Michaelis, fans and spectator audiences alike are keeping a watchful eye on this anticipated film. Black Butler will be co-directed by Kentaro Otani (NANA) and Keiichi Satou (Asura) and filming begins in April. Official photos of Mizushima as Sebastian are seen below.
The original story revolves around a “flawless demon butler” bound by a supernatural contract to serve Ciel Phantomhive, a 12-year-old Earl who became the head of the English Phantomhive noble family following the death of his parents in a fire at their manor. The character, Sebastian, personifies grace, impeccable knowledge, skills and physical perfection as he investigates mysterious incidents and carry out his master’s wishes. Although, the film’s story is reported to be set 130 years later from the manga and follow an entirely original story.
Apart from the film, release dates for its musical has also been announced. Black Butler: The Most Beautiful Death in The World – A Thousand Souls and The Fallen Grim Repear will be showing in Akasaka ACT Theater Tokyo this May 18th until May 26 and on June 8 in Umeda Art Theater Osaka. Song lyrics will be handled by Yukinojo Mori (Dragon Ball Z films) and Taku Iwasaki (Persona -trinity soul-) will be composing the musical scores.
