Deadline has learned that Barbara Marshall (who made the 2012 Blacklist) has been approached to write Summit Entertainment’s Exorcism Diaries.
While details about the film’s plot are still being kept under wraps, it’s said that the story is inspired by the book “The Real Story Behind the Exorcist” by Mark Opsasnick. I’ve never read the book, but the description below makes it sound like a collection of stories.
In THE REAL STORY BEHIND THE EXORCIST, author Mark Opsasnick intrepidly investigates such true-life Washington, D.C. horror legends as the Haunted Boy, UFO contactee Tom Monteleone, the Luzo-Brazilian Black Magic Cult, the Ghost of Crybaby Bridge, and the Goatman of Prince George’s County, Maryland. If you’re spellbound by these twisted tales of terror, seek the truth and lose yourself in the pages of THE REAL STORY BEHIND THE EXORCIST.
So perhaps one or more of the stories featured in the book are being used to form the basis of this movie? Surely Summit Entertainment will clear this up soon enough, for now we must play the waiting game.
…The waiting game sucks, who wants to play Hungry, Hungry, Hippos?
