FearNet to Re-Air Reaper and Create Reunion Special

Jason McDonald

Remember Reaper?  Probably not, because hardly anyone watched it, but it was awesome.  Despite getting a two season run, Reaper has managed to have an afterlife as a cult hit.  This is probably, in part, thanks to Netflix who has been airing the episodes on their streaming service.

Now FearNet has picked up on the cult status of the show and has arranged to obtain the “Off-Net” rights to re-air Reaper episodes on Tuesday nights at 9pm as part of their “Twisted Comedy Block” which also includes Holliston.  So if you missed out on Reaper the first time around, now is your chance to find out why it has such a loyal fanbase.

But wait! There’s more! Deadline is also reporting that FearNet is creating a half-hour reunion special to reunite Bret Harrison, Tyler Labine and Ray Wise to discuss the show’s ongoing popularity post-cancellation.

Also worth mentioning is this quote by Sarah Shannon, VP of Programming and Network Operations at FearNet:

Many Reaper viewers feel the show left too early, so we hope that they will enjoy our plans for the series and our Reaper reunion special.

Could “plans for the series” mean something more than just re-airing the episodes?  I don’t want to get my hopes up, but if FearNet were to start making new Reaper episodes…well…they’d have my everlasting respect.

Watched them all on Netflix and liked them a lot. I don’t like reunion specials, however if they announce new episodes, I might have to watch it.

I loved this show! I hope they have plans to make more episodes, i lost my faith that it would get picked up again when the leads got their own shows. now that they are cancelled, they’ll be available to do more :)
