Popular Manga “Blood Lad” to Get Anime Adaptation

While most anime series are getting their break with live-action film adaptations, well-known horror manga series are now being slated to get their own anime series. Is it me or is this trendy transition beginning to look like a manufacturing assembly line?

Created by Yuuki Kodama and serialized in Young Ace since 2009, Blood Lad is a horror-comedy that follows a vampire named Staz who is obsessed with the human world and a human girl named Fuyumi who was killed and wandered into the demon world as a ghost. Finally seeing a way into the human world, Staz promises Fuyumi that he would bring her back to life and help her regain her humanity.

Talks of releasing the anime was actually announced back in June 2011 and now a tentative premiere is set for the summer of this year. Brain Base recently streamed its first promotional trailer for the anime adaptation. As for the manga, the eighth volume was released for distribution at the beginning week of April. Due to its popularity, the manga series was actually licensed for distribution in English by Yen Press, in German by Tokyopop Germany and in French by Kurokawa.
