Walking Dead Looking for a Roy Stark

Jason McDonald

With production of season four of The Walking Dead set to start in just a few months, TVLine is reporting that AMC is putting out a casting call for a brand new character by the name of Roy Stark.

Given the massacre that took place at the end of season three, it comes as no surprise that they would look for more corpses…er…I mean characters to fill up space.  While the name “Roy Stark” may not be familiar to comic book fans, his character description should ring a bell:

A former army medic who is deeply haunted by his past — pre- and post-zombie apocalypse. As a result, he’s a bit of a loner, although he maintains a charming/self-deprecating/confident public face.

Kind of sounds a bit like Sgt. Abraham who had a nice little role in the Walking Dead comics.  Why the name change though? Who knows, either way it’s nice to see more of the comic book characters being brought to life.  Any thoughts on who you’d want to play the army medic?

They often change the name of the characters during the audition faze in order to prevent spoilers and keep things secret. Clearly there is only one army guy in the comics, so that’s why everyone assumes it’s abraham. Way to go, AMC!

I have been thinking about Abraham. Really looking forward and hoping they do introduce him to the TV series. This is exciting news potentially.
