You’ll Be the Death of Me Goes to Lionsgate

Mark Hammer’s slasher/comedy You’ll Be the Death of Me has been picked up by Lionsgate/Summit in, as Deadline reports, a “low six figure deal.”   The logline for the script is as follows: “Nothing can spoil falling in love in New York City, but a masked knife-wielding psychopath hell bent on keeping you single can certainly make falling in love more difficult.”

It’s not exactly a film that screams mass-market appeal, but then again, neither did a zombie rom-com like Warm Bodies  and that film went on to gross over $100 million at the box office for Lionsgate. Seeing as how they’ve given this film to Mandeville Films, who also produced Warm Bodies, you can bet they’re hoping lightning strikes twice.

Mark Hammer previously found himself on the 2011 blacklist for his script, Two Night Stand, and is currently working on another project for J.J. Abrams.
