Dominic Cooper Joins Dracula

Jason McDonald

Last week we brought you word that Sarah Gadon had joined Luke Evans in Universal’s upcoming Dracula.  Now we can add another name to that growing list of cast members.

Dominic Cooper, who previously dealt with vampires in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, has signed up to co-star in the Gary Shore directed feature. No word on who he’ll play, but every Dracula needs a good adversary.  Given the film’s imaginative approach to the mythos of Dracula, one has to wonder if Van Helsing will be featured in this film.  For now, this synopsis is all we know about the film’s plot:

The story centers around a young prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them, and in the process becomes the first vampire.

Dracula will hit theaters on August 8th, 2014.
