Plot Points Revealed for Bates Motel Season 2

If you saw the finale to A&E’s Bates Motel than you know that the series left us with several shocking revelations.  One of those revelations included some pretty nasty details about Norman’s Uncle.  This, of course, opens up the door for even more members of the Bates clan to show up at the hotel’s doorstep.

While talking with TV Guide executive producer Carlton Cuse had a few things to say about Norman’s extended family.

We would be remiss if we didn’t meet some other members of the Bates family.  I don’t’ want to say who, but we are definitely going to learn about their family tree, which has more twisty branches.

Other characters will also find themselves thrust further under the spotlight next season.  Mysterious town sheriff Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell) will see his personal life be exposed and Dylan’s dad will somehow come into the picture next season.

However, it wouldn’t be Bates Motel without a complicated love story and, after the fallout of season one, Norma Bates is back on the hunt for a new love. Vera Farmiga (Norma) had this to say about her characters evolving plot:

Norma will find romance next year with someone we haven’t yet met.  She sure needs it.  Her neediness gives her an urgent desire to touch and kiss Norman, and that need should probably be filled by someone other than her son.

New loves, new antagonists and new mysteries.  It sounds like season two of Bates Motel is shaping up to be just as dramatic if not more so than the first season.  And while some may baulk at the idea of introducing another member of the Bates family, I welcome it.  Dylan’s introduction left me a little uneasy at first and yet he wound up being one of my favorite characters on the show.  If they can give a new family member a similar treatment than I see no reason to oppose the idea.

The more information I can learn about the Bates family tree the better. Season one has been a wide ride and I can only imagine and anticipate what the writers have to tell me about the past. Bates Motel is creatively written and fun to watch, so I’m always excited to get home from my job at DISH to watch it. Using my DISH Hopper, I can start watching TV in my family room, pause BM and continue watching in my bedroom while I’m doing chores. Doing laundry isn’t as boring when I have Norman Bates to entertain me and I don’t miss any of my show.

I cant wait till season 2. My wife and I watched every episode and still watch the reruns. It was crazy how Norman killed the teacher at the end. Bring on season 2 with a vengeance.

It was not Norman, it was Bradley.

Freddie Highmore and Verga killed it. Excellent acting and they couldnt have picked a better actor to play Norman Bates. Season 2 in 2014 tho.

Maybe Dylan’s Dad and the mysterious family tree are the same thing? Norma’s BROTHER perhaps?!

Yep, that’s what I think, too. Maybe that explains why Norma is distant from Dylan, a painful reminder she wants to forget?
