All I’m going to say is, please don’t shoot the messenger! I can hear you all now, screaming at your monitors, “not another freakin’ remake!?” and yes, unfortunately we have another remake on our hands.
As you all know, Oldboy, was recently remade, and in fact that one is hitting theatres this October, but it appears as if Hollywood wants to have another go at a Park Chan-wook project, and this time they have taken their attention to Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance.
Now of course, Oldboy and Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance are part of a trilogy entitled The Vengeance Trilogy along with Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, which is all about revenge, and as you know, they’re a little bit awesome.
According to Deadline, Silver Reel and Lotus Entertainment have partnered with di Bonaventura Pictures and CJ Entertainment for an English-language remake of Park Chan-wook’s Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. Brian Tucker (Broken City) penned the script.
“The film centers on two men who are bound by their common sense of loss and headed on a collision course of revenge.”
So with Oldboy set for a release this October, and now Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is on the cards, how long until the entire trilogy is remade with Sympathy for Lady Vengeance? Damn, I guess nothing is sacred after-all.
