Black Devil Doll TV Show in the Works

983596_10151652441069509_1022755338_nShawn Lewis has been promising a bug announcement regarding the next Black Devil Doll project and today we got it. Lowest Common Denominator Entertainment is going into production on a Black Devil Doll sitcom which will comprise of a 6-part, 30 minute per episode television series. Currently they are keeping most of the cast and plot details locked down for now. But they did release a couple key points.

  • 6-parts, 30 minutes per episode…over 3 hours.
  • 1980′s-style sitcom, shot on sets, super fast-paced, with a laughtrack, a cheeseball theme song
  • The first 2 episodes will be premiering at the New Beverly Theater in Hollywood.
  • The entire sitcom will available on DVD and Blu-Ray dual-disc box sets as well as available on VOD.

In order to get this thing off the ground the crew has gone to indiegogo to ask for funding. All of the money from the campaign will go right to production. They are going to cover all of pre-production and post production costs. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. I’m not sure about the format, but anything with Black Devil Doll in it has caught my interest. Check out their pitch video below and if you want to contribute check out their indiegogo page.

I think I’ll put as much effort into backing this stupid idea as the makers of BLACK DEVIL DOLL put into showing up at the Cinema Wasteland show where the film was slated to premiere… which is to say, none. Of course, I could have forgiven them for their lack of professionalism, had the movie not turned out to be so painfully unfunny and forgettable. If you can’t win a freak like me over with a no-budget blaxploitation killer puppet movie, you’re in the wrong business. These dudes need to go back to bagging at the Sav-A-Lot and leave the indie filmmaking to folks who know what they’re doing.

Well that was harsh and completely unnecessary. Yep we missed a Cinema Wasteland Convention. Shit happens, we missed a deadline because of a family emergency but whatever, that was 6-7 years ago now, maybe you should get over it? Every disappointed fan that contacted me and was expecting to see the film at Wasteland got a free DVD and a t-shirt from me to make up for it. If I make mistakes I do my best to take care of them. Sorry that you did not enjoy Black Devil Doll, we can’t please everyone. Thanks -shawn
