Paramount Wants a Friday the 13th Sequel “As Fast As Possible”

Recently we gave you guys the news that the Friday the 13th rights had reverted back to its old home, Paramount Studios, and of course everyone, including myself was wondering when a sequel would take place. While we still are in the dark regarding when a sequel will happen, we have scored a little piece which gives us hope that a sequel might be sooner than we think, but it appears as if Platinum Dunes is involved.

According to B-D, Derek Mears (2009 Jason Voorhees) stated;

I spoke to Brad Fuller and he said that the rights are, as everyone knows, over at Paramount and they’re pushing hard. They’re going we want [a new Friday The 13th movie] as fast as possible.

In regards to Mears returning as Jason Voorhees, he states;

I know they [Platinum Dunes] like me.” He continues, “…look, even if I’m not a part of the series, as a fan I just want to see more.

So it appears as if Platinum Dunes is teaming up with Paramount for the next sequel in the franchise, but is this a good thing? I’ll let you guys be the judge, but by the sound of things, we may be getting a sequel sooner than we expected. Hit up the comments below and let us know what you think?
