Backstreet Boy Nick Carter Starts IndieGoGo To Fund Evil Blessings

Ryan Sternfels

Backstreet is back, and wants your money to produce a horror film.

That’s right, famed Backstreet Boy Nick Carter plans to co-write, produce, and star in Evil Blessings, a film that Carter says is, “…going back to the root of horror.”

Rob Carliner, producer of the highly acclaimed 2009 Academy Award winning film Crazy Heart, is set to produce alongside Carter with Sxv’Leithan Essex directing and director of photography Shian Storms at the camera.

According to Carter‘s campaign video, Evil Blessings follows a group of hunters who soon find they are the ones being hunted by an “ancient family of evil.”

In his video, Carter claims he’s jumped on the celebrity crowdfunding bandwagon so as not to be constricted by studio boundaries, allowing the film to surpass R-rated limits and to make a “scary, sexy, and gory movie – with heart.”

It sounds like the former boy-band singer has the passion to make a quality film, mentioning several times about his love and respect for the genre.  Whether his writing ability matches his fervor has yet to be seen.  Essex and Storms are still relatively unknown names, although from what we see in a clip from Carter‘s video, it looks as though together they can bring something new and interesting to the table.

Check out Nick Carter‘s campaign video below, and head on over to his IndieGoGo page to learn more about donating to the cause.  If you’re willing to dish out $10,000, they’ll fly you to the L.A. premiere all expenses paid, where you’ll get a bunch of free swag, an executive producer’s credit, a V.I.P pass to the after-party, and a meet-and-greet with Carter himself.
