The trailer for “Entity” feels like it’s treading on familiar ground. Ghosts, camera crew, a decrepit building with a tragic past, etc. It all makes the tagline strangely poetic. “We may forget the past, but it never forgets us.” I’m not criticizing the film for following a formula, but I often feel like these types of films are so prolific that they are deserving of their own sub-genre now. I guess they still qualify for haunted house tales, but it don’t feel that’s specific enough for this type of film. What do you think?
“Entity” comes by way of first time writer and director Steve Stone and stars Dervla Kirwan, Charlotte Riley, and Branko Tomovic. The film is currently available for purchase at US and UK retailers and can be seen on VOD. It should also be noted that the film picked up a couple of awards while playing in the festival circuit. The London Independent Film Festival awarded it the Best Horror and Best Independent FIlm award while the British Filmmakers Alliance awarded Branko Tomovic the Best International Actor award for his performance in the film. The last communication to their production office in London stated that they were approaching the Siberian region where the bodies were found. Nothing was heard from them again. ‘Entity’ is the story of what happened to them. The forest was only the beginning….”
