For fans of Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights this news is pretty groovy. The recent Evil Dead film is being transformed into a haunted attraction for Universal Studios Hollywood and Orlando for the upcoming Halloween season. Take note that I said it was the recent Evil Dead film that was being turned into an attraction, that means you probably won’t see Bruce Campbell, a.k.a Ash, lookalikes running around.
The news was revealed in a pretty inconspicuous way. Those that have gotten their hands on the blu-ray for Evil Dead may have noticed a small pamphlet on the inside which revealed that the movie was coming to the Universal theme parks this Fall. For Hollywood this marks the first official attraction announcement, while it’s the second one for Orlando which just announced that they were getting a “Cabin in the Woods” house.
Fans of Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights will probably note that Creative Director John Murdy (one of the driving forces of the annual event) has been interested in putting up an Evil Dead attraction for quite some time now. However, the biggest dilemma he faced was that Ash (Bruce Campbell) was an integral part of the original films. The maze wouldn’t have been fully accurate without having Ash’s likeness somehow involved. Now that the latest film has established a new protagonist this clears up any issues he would have had.
Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando and Hollywood kicks off this September 20th. What other movies would you like to see come to the annual event?
