Oldboy Gets Pushed Back One Month

While Spike Lee is trying to con people into giving him money on Kickstarter, his upcoming film Oldboy is being pushed back one month from October 25th to November 27th. This doesn’t seem like a very smart move on the part of the studio unless they have been receiving some positive feedback or they are extremely confident in the film.

In October they had almost no competition and now they are opening on Thanksgiving weekend with a couple big hitters. This film seems like it would be perfect to premiere at Toronto International Film Festival or the New York Fest but only time will tell if they decide to go that route. I think if they are truly confident in the film they will premiere it there to build some buzz. So we’ll have to wait and see what their next move will be.

Synopsis: This is the story of an advertising executive (Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.
