Syfy Developing a Show Based Off of Legion

Remember 2010′s “Legion” which starred Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid? The SyFy channel remembers it and now they want to turn it into a TV series.  You might be thinking “That sounds crazy!” But lets not forget that sometimes a good TV show can be spawned from a mediocre movie.  For example “Stargate” and… Well that’s all I’ve got.

Deadline is reporting that SyFy has greenlit a 90-minute pilot for a series entitled “Dominion.”  The pilot will be based on characters featured in the 2010 movie “Legion.”  The pilot will be directed by Scott Stewart who also wrote and directed the original film.  However, this time Vaun Wilmott (“Sons of Anarchy”) will be doing the writing.

Deadline describes the pilot as an “epic supernatural action drama set 25 years in the future after a war between an army of angels and mankind has transformed the world.  It follows the perilous journey of a rebellious young soldier who discovers he’s the unlikely savior of humanity.”

The source material isn’t stellar, but I’m interested in seeing what a writer like Wilmott can draw out of it.  After all, “Sons of Anarchy” is a pretty intense show.  Also, it’s nice to see SyFy trying to make original shows again and not just banking on reality programs.  Hopefully they’ll keep it up.
